Getting Information on Free Space

The user may query disk space using the df command through globus-job-run. Before using globus-job-run verify that your certificate is active, otherwise a confusing message is delivered, as shown in the example.

$ globus-job-run testbed008 /bin/df -h
ERROR: proxy does not exists
Syntax : globus-job-run {[-:] <contact string> [-np N] <executable> [<arg>...]}...
Use -help to display full usage.
In the above example the error message clearly stated that the certificate is not active, but as usage information is printed too with greater evidence, the beginner usually does not notice the ERROR information and is not able to run the command.

Run grid-proxy-init as follows:

$ grid-proxy-init
Your identity: /C=IT/O=INFN/OU=Personal Certificate/L=Bo/CN=M L/Email=M.L@site
Enter GRID pass phrase for this identity:
Creating proxy ................................. Done
Your proxy is valid until Fri Jul 25 03:50:57 2003
and you will get the expected output:
$ globus-job-run testbed008 /bin/df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hdc1              33G   16G   15G  50% /
