Neutrino and Astro-Particle Physics



The Sixth Topical Seminar on "Neutrino and Astro-Particle Physics" has taken place at the Centro Studi "I Cappuccini" in San Miniato al Todesco, Italy, from 17 to 21 May 1999.


GENERAL INFORMATION

PROGRAMME

The Seminar is the sixth in a series devoted to experimental and theoretical results in high-energy particle physics and astrophysics. The previous ones were held in 1985 [Few and many quarks systems], 1987 [Heavy Flavours], 1991 [Heavy Flavours], 1992 [The Standard Model and just beyond], 1997 [The irresistible rise of the Standard Model]. The 1999 Seminar will focus on the discussion of present and future research in the field of neutrino and astroparticle physics, fields which are complementary to collider accelerator experiments in the quest for new physics beyond the Standard Model. A special session will be dedicated to new technologies for manned space flight, which could open up the exploration of the solar system.
The Seminar will consist of review talks summarizing the progress and perspectives in the major sectors, and on shorter talks discussing specific issues. The presentation of posters is also foreseen.

Main topics

ATTENDANCE

Attendance will be by invitation and will be limited to approximately one hundred and fifty physicists. Interested physicists should [e-/s-]write to the Organizing Committee.


Papers
In addition to invited papers, contributed papers and posters are welcome. A 1-page abstract must be sent to: kaos@bo.infn.it . Deadline of contributed abstracts: 15 April 1999. Acceptance will be notified by 30 April 1999 . Accepted contributed papers and posters will be published together with the invited papers in the conference proceedings.

Proceedings
These papers will be published in Nuclear Physics B (Proc. Suppl.) and must be received by the Editors by 31 August 1999. Instructions for the preparation of the full-length manuscripts will be sent to the authors.

The Workshop registration fee of 350.000 Lit [181 E] should be paid upon arrival at the registration desk (Italian currency only). Major credit cards are welcome. Proceedings, shuttle service during the Workshop, welcome cocktail, coffee breaks, and social dinner are included in the registration fee. The cost of the registration fee is reduced to 300,000 Lit [155 E] for registrations/reservations received before the dead line.

Accommodation

Housing and full board on site cost 520 KLit [269 E] per person in a double room (supplement for a single room is 160 KLit [83 E]). The cost for an adult companion is 440 KLit [227 E]. These costs cover the full duration of the conference, from the dinner on 17 May to the lunch on 21 May.

Transportation

The most convenient airport is "G. Galilei" in Pisa, where you can take the train to Empoli Station. In front of Empoli Station you will find the Seminar minibus (meeting the main trains from about 9 am until 8 pm on Monday 17 May). If you need, phone the Conference Centre [Tel: 0571 418216]. There are also national and international flights to Florence airport. Coming by train, you have to change at Florence or Pisa, and stop at Empoli Station to take the Seminar bus.
