The sub-field of String Phenomenology concerns trying to develop consistent models which not only recover the already established physics at low energies, but further extend it by new predictions. Most of string theory models predict the existence of 6 extra dimensions for our spacetime, and a crucial question is understanding which geometric shapes those extra dimensions can take. Qualities like the topology, the shape, and the size of the extra dimensions, will reflect in what low energy physics a given phenomenological model can describe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;font-size: 16px\">\u2028In the first phase of the action, the candidate will construct a brand new set of Calabi-Yau manifolds, six dimensional geometric objects which can be used as extra-dimensions for model-building in string phenomenology. Furthermore, finiteness of newly constructed set will be proven, and geometric transitions among Calabi-Yau manifolds of this class will be investigated. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;font-size: 16px\">Subsequently, orientifolds of those manifolds will be studied and an explicit database of those will be made publicly available. In the second phase of the action, the candidate will use the newly generated set of manifolds in order to construct global models for phenomenology, combining both closed string moduli stabilization as well as a Standard Model and a cosmological Inflation sector.
