The “Asimov Prize”<\/strong><\/a> is a recognition reserved for particularly worthy works of popularization and scientific essays. It sees as protagonists both the authors of the competing works and thousands of Italian students, who decree the winner with their votes and their reviews, in turn evaluated and rewarded.<\/p>\n

The Prize aims to bring the younger generations closer to scientific culture, through the evaluation and critical reading of the works in competition. It was born from an idea of \u200b\u200bthe physicist Francesco Vissani<\/a>, who was inspired by similar initiatives of the Royal Society<\/a>. Initially established by the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) of L’Aquila<\/a>, thanks to the collaboration of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and many other scientific realities, it now qualifies as a national level prize.<\/p>\n

The Prize is named after the writer Isaac Asimov, author of an impressive number of scientifically popular works as well as several novels and short stories. Students’ reading, analysis and review of the works in competition can be recognized for the purpose of assigning training credits and as a path for transversal skills and orientation (PCTO, ex Alternanza Scuola Lavoo), subject to certification by the organizing bodies and participating schools.<\/p>\n
