The exhibition and seminars are a
historical-scientific itinerary from the pioneering work on
electricity of the two scientists, two centuries ago, to contemporary
discoveries in physics and biomedicine.
The research of Galvani on animal electricity led to the birth of
electrophysiology.
The invention of the battery by Volta, providing the first reliable
source of electricity, was an important step in the development of
electromagnetism.
In the long range the direct and indirect effects of these
discoveries have been dramatic:
electric power and telecommunication dominate our world;
the role of the generation and propagation of electric pulses in
the human brain and body is a very important field of
interdisciplinary research of physicians, biologists and physicists.
