It has been in data taking since 2008, at a depth of 2500 m under the Mediterranean Sea, in front of the Southern French coast (<strong>42\u00b048&#8217;N, 6\u00b010&#8217;E )<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main goal of <a href=\"https:\/\/antares.in2p3.fr\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Open page in new tab ANTARES\">ANTARES<\/a> is the detection of high energy neutrinos coming from astrophysical sources. The capability of going out from dense region of remote astrophysical objects and of travelling cosmic distances without interacting or being deflected make neutrinos the ideal probes to study production and acceleration mechanisms of ultra-energetic particles reaching continuously the Earth atmosphere, the  cosmic rays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More, high-energy neutrinos arriving in space-time coincidence with  the occurrence of other catastrophic events like  gravitational wave emission, photon detection over a wide electromagnetic spectrum, ultra high-energy cosmic ray events can provide precious information on the mechanisms acting inside areas of the Universe hardly accessible, opening a new research window on the multimessenger astronomy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At lower energy, neutrinos can be produced as the final products of annihilation non barionic dark matter particles, the WIMPs, which could be gravitationally trapped in the center of the Earth, of the Sun or of our Galaxy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, neutrino telescopes represent a useful tool for deep-sea  monitoring, thanks to the opportunity of measuring in real time and for long time series several environmental physics parameters at abyssal depths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ANTARES is in the list of <a href=\"https:\/\/greybook.cern.ch\/greybook\/experiment\/recognized\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Open page in new tab Recognized Experiments\">Recognized Experiments<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow external noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Open page in new tab CERN\">CERN<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans; font-size: 21px;\"><strong>ANTARES at Bologna &#8211; activity<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bologna group is active mainly on data analysis and on Monte Carlo simulation. Several members of our group have held official roles within the collaboration. <\/p>\n<span class=\"collapseomatic noarrow\" id=\"Mostra\"  tabindex=\"0\" alt=\"Information about Bologna Group\" title=\"Information about Bologna Group\"    ><strong>+ More<\/strong><\/span><span id='swap-Mostra'  class='colomat-swap' style='display:none;'><strong>- Less<\/strong><\/span><div id=\"target-Mostra\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<ul>\n<li>During the construction phase of the detector<strong> Stefano Cecchini, <\/strong>in his role as Q<strong>uality Control Manager,<\/strong> has created the Quality Control and Quality Assurance system of the ANTARES Collaboration. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Maurizio Spurio<\/strong> has been appointed as <strong>Deputy Spokesman<\/strong> since 2014.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Annarita Margiotta<\/strong>, since&nbsp; 2008 and for over 10 years, has been the&nbsp; Simulation Working Group leader.
