class=\"ce-bodytext\">\n<p>The general aim of Nuclear Physics is the study of nuclear matter properties, starting from its basic components, protons and neutrons with their internal structure made of quarks and gluons, up to the heaviest and complex nuclei, both those existing in nature and those artificially produced which are characterized by a very short lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>The research activities in this field of Physics are coordinated at the Italian level by the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.infn.it\/csn3\/index.php\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab INFN National Scientific Committee 3\">INFN National Scientific Committee 3<\/a> and are divided in four different sectors, following the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nupecc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab NuPECC\">NuPECC<\/a> classification scheme, i.e.:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector 1: Quark and hadron dynamics<\/strong>. <br \/>To this sector belong experiments devoted to the study of nucleon spin and nucleon resonances, nuclear medium effects, hypernuclei spectroscopy, kaonic and pion atoms. <br \/>National and international Laboratories involved: Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (<a href=\"http:\/\/w3.lnf.infn.it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab LNF\">LNF<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab CERN\">CERN<\/a>, the Thomas Jefferson Laboratory (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jlab.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab JLAB\">JLAB<\/a>) and, in the future, the Brookhaven National Laboratory (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnl.gov\/world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab BNL\">BNL<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>At the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bologna INFN Division<\/span> the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnl.gov\/eic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab EIC\">EIC<\/a>_NET<\/strong> collaboration is working on the future construction of an experiment at the BNL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector 2: Phase transitions of nuclear and hadronic matter.<\/strong><br \/>To this sector belong experiments devoted to the study of liquid-vapour phase transition and equation of state of nuclear matter (EOS), chiral symmetry restoration, quark deconfinement and the hadronic matter to Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP) phase transition. <br \/>International laboratories involved: <a href=\"https:\/\/home.cern\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab CERN\">CERN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bologna INFN Division<\/span> a group is working in the <a href=\"\/gruppo3\/alice-en\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Open page ALICE\"><strong>ALICE<\/strong><\/a> experiment (CERN).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sector 3: Nuclear structure and reaction dynamics.<\/strong><br \/>To this sector belong experiments devoted to the study of fission and fusion reaction mechanisms, production and study of exotic nuclei far from the stability region, nuclear structure with gamma spectroscopy, radioactive ion beams and muonic hydrogen atoms. <br \/>National and international laboratories involved: Laboratori Nazionali di Legnaro (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lnl.infn.it\/en\/welcome-on-the-site-of-the-national-laboratories-of-legnaro\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab LNL\">LNL<\/a>), Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lns.infn.it\/it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab LNS\">LNS<\/a>) and the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (<a href=\"https:\/\/stfc.ukri.org\/about-us\/where-we-work\/rutherford-appleton-laboratory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab RAL\">RAL<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>At the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Bologna INFN Division<\/span> a group is working in the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.infn.it\/FAMU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" title=\"Open page in new tab FAMU\"><strong>FAMU<\/strong><\/a> experiment (RAL).
