The thesis topics concern studies for the characterisation of the Ring-Imaging Cherenkov (RICH) detector for particle identification at the EIC and include<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;\">firstly the <b>characterisation and evaluation of the performance of SiPM sensors<\/b> for the detection of single fotons<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;\">and aspects related to the <b>study of the detector-system performance via Monte Carlo simulations<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;\">The group is in particular involved in the validation for the usage of silicon SiPM sensors for RICH applications at the EIC and the programme foresees<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;\">the study and characterisation of the performance of SiPM sensor before and after <b>irradiation with ionising particles<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;\">the usage of the same SiPM sensors in a <b>RICH detector prototype<\/b> which is under development for a beam test in 2021.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thesis opportunities in EIC \u00a0 The Bologna EIC group offers thesis for Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in Physics in view of the experimentation at the future Electron-Ion Collider.
