These crystals function both as a signal sourse and as a detector.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans\">Il criostato si compone di un sistema di schermi cilindrici concentrici, ognuno raffreddato a temperature sempre pi\u00f9 basse dall&#8217;esterno verso l&#8217;interno cos\u00ec che il volume centrale occupato dai cristalli, quando il sistema \u00e8 in funzione, rappresenta il metro cubo pi\u00f9 freddo dell&#8217;Universo conosciuto.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans;font-size: 18px\"><span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>CUORE<\/strong><\/span> (<span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>C<\/strong><\/span>ryogenic <strong><span style=\"color: #007bb3\">U<\/span><\/strong>ndregroung <span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>O<\/strong><\/span>bservatory for <strong><span style=\"color: #007bb3\">R<\/span><\/strong>are <strong><span style=\"color: #007bb3\">E<\/span><\/strong>vents) is located at the <span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>L<\/strong><\/span>aboratori <span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>N<\/strong><\/span>azionali del <span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>G<\/strong><\/span>ran <span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>S<\/strong><\/span>asso (<span style=\"color: #007bb3\"><strong>LNGS<\/strong><\/span>) and is the largest solid-state cryogenic experiment, bolometer, ever built that  works at cryogenic temperatures.<br><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Inside the detector there are also two lead shields that protect it from environmental radioactivity, the outermost one was made using Roman archaeological lead from a wreck sunk in the 1st century B.C near Oristano<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans\">Our service initially took care of designing the screen movement system.
