Giordano: Detector based on scintillators and photomultipliers or SiPM<\/strong><\/span><div id=\"target-SiPM\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">In the early 90s we started working on scintillators based on light collection using WLS fibers (see photo below) and in particular, we built the STIC.<\/span><br><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38703 alignleft\" src=\"\/tgenerale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/05\/RS_prototipo_stic-1-300x148.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"\/tgenerale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/05\/RS_prototipo_stic-1-300x148.jpg 300w, \/tgenerale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/05\/RS_prototipo_stic-1.jpg 352w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traduzione\"><span lang=\"en\" style=\"font-size: 16px;font-family: 'Open Sans'\">STIC is a&nbsp; foreward calorimeter to measure luminosity where this latter is read through the use of tetrodes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Traduzione\"><span lang=\"en\" style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';font-size: 16px\">For the Delphi experiment (at LEP Cern), we created a system where counters angled at 40 degrees are mounted inside a magnet and a veto system is mounted on the beam pipe. The veto is read by photomultipliers placed outside the magnetic field.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">In more recent years we built counters read by CMS Beam Halo Counter Detector photomultipliers (CMS DN 2012) and, always for CMS, we worked on quartz read by photomultipliers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-38696 aligncenter\" src=\"\/tgenerale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/05\/RSfotomoltip_quarzo-300x138.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"138\" srcset=\"\/tgenerale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/05\/RSfotomoltip_quarzo-300x138.jpg 300w, \/tgenerale\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2020\/05\/RSfotomoltip_quarzo.jpg 377w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans'\">Even more recently, we engaged in the creation of various prototypes of counters read by silicon photomultiplier for the Super B and SHIP experiments.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<br><span class=\"collapseomatic noarrow\" id=\"Ultra_Fast_Silicon_Detectors\"  tabindex=\"0\" alt=\"Informazioni su D. Cavazza: timing-SiPM e Ultra Fast Silicon Detectors<\/strong><\/span><div id=\"target-Ultra_Fast_Silicon_Detectors\" class=\"collapseomatic_content \">\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"tw-target-text\" class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large XcVN5d tw-ta\" data-placeholder=\"Traduzione\"><span lang=\"en\" style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';font-size: 16px\"> I study the SiliconPhotoMultiplier (MPPC \/ SiPM) and specifically the measures, characterizations and configurations for timing, in collaboration with several students that, with my support, authored experimental theses on detectors.<br>In recent years I also extended my analysis to new generation silicas, UFSD (Ultra Fast Silicon Detectors) and LGAD (Low Gain Avalanche Detectors).
