Silicon Microstrip Detectors (ISIM and OSIM)
Bari-Trieste collaboration

Silicon Microstrip Detectors will be used as the vertex detectors (ISIM) and as the first element of the outer tracking system (OSIM) for FINUDA.
ISIM is arranged along a parallelepiped having an octogonal section in the interaction region, just before the target. It will provide information about hypernucleus position by means of the charged Kaons trajectory.
OSIM is arranged along a parallelepiped having a decagonal section which will provide the measurement of the momenta of the pion emitted in the hypernucleus formation reaction.
They consist of double sided silicon microstrip detectors 0.03 cm thick, having a high spatial resolution (few microns) and a good efficiency for charge impinging particles.
ISIM and OSIM are modular: each module is obtained by micro-bonding together 3 units of Si detector. A module have an active surface of 196 mm (along the beam direction) x 52 mm (along the perpendicular direction). The unit detector is a double sided silicon microstrip detector, 0.03 cm thick and with a surface of 52.6 mm x 65.4 mm.The pitch between two strips is 0.05 mm and the strip width about 0.006 mm.
