HEPE98: The first 133 MHz Fuzzy Processor

General description:

HEPE98 is the new version of the 2-input 1-output fuzzy processor HEPE97. The chip has been targeted to the deep sub-micron technology 0.35 micron Alcatel Mietec. Using this new technology available via Europractice we have been able to reach a very high clock frequency, 133 MHz, in a very small silicon area, 3 sqmm. HEPE98 can fetch a new pair of input values and give a valid output every 4 clock periods, that means 30 ns. This makes the chip even more attractive than HEPE97 for problems where a very high processing rate is required. The chip has been sent to the Mietec foundry in December '98 and is expected to be ready for April '99.
