Outreach

In addition to physics research, the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, is also involved in outreach activities for students and society.  Further details on all the projects and activities in which the INFN is involved can be found  here.

In this page the outreach activities where the local Bologna unit of the INFN is involved are described.  These activities are developed in collaboration with the Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia (DIFA) of UNIBO.

Activities dedicated to students of secondary school are the  International Masterclass and the Premio Asimov. These projects have involved an increasing number of students in recent years.

The project AggiornaMenti, instead, is dedicated to Science teachers of the secondary school of first level (scuola media). It is a course based on practical activities in the laboratory, to teach science through the observation of simple phenomena that occur in everyday life, and that can be easily replicated without dedicated and expensive instruments.

Pint of Science is an international format, an event in 3 days, the same everywhere in Europe, when young scientists describe their research activities and answer to questions from the audience in the informal atmosphere of a pub.

DARK is an INFN outreact project on dark matter. In particular, in Bologna are organized Masterclass for students, dedicated to the Darkside experiment.

The Bologna unit of the INFN also offer to students of the secondary school the possibility to partecipate to one-week stages with activities related to the PCTO project (Percorso per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento, previously Alternanza Scuola-Lavoro),

The Bologna unit is also involved in the organization of the European Night of the Research.

The Bologna unit of INFN, in collaboration with the Department of Physics and Astronomy (DIFA), hosts and organizes outreach events of various types for the personnel, for students and for general public.
