MoEDAL: a new approach to the search for magnetic monopoles

The MoEDAL experiment at CERN‘s Large Hadron Collider recently published an article in  Nature on the search for magnetic monopoles generated in the strong magnetic fields – 10,000 times more intense than those present on neutron stars – produced in the collisions of Lead ions at LHC.
