AggiornaMenti
Science Teaching for teachers of First-Level Secondary School (Scuola Media)
The 2020/2021 edition is in preparation. The dates and the details of the course will be delivered as soon as possible
- Why an air carrier can float, and a coin cannot?
- What does a lifeguard have in common with a light ray?
- Why is the sun yellow during daytime, and orange at sunset?
- How can fakirs lay down on a nail bed?
- What is magnetism?
- How do a magnet and a coin know hat they have to attract each other ?
- How can we tell a rigged dice?
They sound as simple questions, almost silly, but they actually hide very important and fundamental scientific questions. And they are an effective and amusing way to get into physics, and more generally into science.
The Bologna unit of Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) presents the second edition of AggiornaMenti, a laboratory for teaching science, mainly dedicated (but not only) to teachers of the secondary school of first level (scuola media).
Simple and easy-to-repeat experiments on phenomena that belongs to everyday life will be used to let the students get accustomed to scientific reasoning, and to interpret the observations in terms of more general laws.
The experiments can be performed using simple instruments and cheap materials that are easily found in our houses, in order to be easily reproduced at school or at home.
The project AggiornaMenti also has a Youtube Channel, with simple homemade scientific experiments.
