CAMERA for Liquid Argon
A new camera for reading traces produced in Liquid Argon: element that will be part of the detector SAND (System for on-Axis Neutrino Detection). This research and development activity is a part of the experiment DUNE (Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment) for the creation of a completely new and highly innovative detector.
The camera consists of an optics made with the so-called “Hamadard Masks” and a sensor consisting of a matrix of Silicon Photo Multipliers (SiPM). The masks are made up of a set of solids and voids that the light pass according to a mathematically predefined pattern. The camera is made of stainless steel to avoid deformation during high temperature changes; the SiPM matrix is mounted on a flexible kapton cable.
