Download OpenVPN
You can download the software directly from OpenVPN’s official site.
Start the installation
Double click on the package you just downloaded and Windows will ask you for confirmation to run the “app” (“OpenVPN Inc.” may not be recognized as authentic) proceed and select “run anyway“; the system will ask you to run the installer as administrator, confirm and leave all default values.
At the end OpenVPN will be automatically started and will notify you of the lack of a configuration file .
Download and import the configuration
Download the OpenVPN configuration file taking care to add the “.ovpn” extension to the save name. OpenVPN will be ready in the “system tray” where there are the wifi and other active programs. Right click on it and choose “import / import file” by selecting the file you just downloaded. The system will notify if the operation completed successfully
Connect to the VPN
By clicking on the OpenVPN icon, with the right mouse button, the “Connect” item will appear.
Selecting “Connect” you will be prompted for the Administrator password in order to add your account as a member of the OpenVPN administrators .
Finally a window will appear where you will have to enter the credentials of your NATIONAL / AAI account with the following syntax
Username: username@bo.infn.it
Password: *******************
After entering the credentials, a window will appear showing the connection status and the words “INFN_BO.ovpn is now connected” confirms that it was successful.
Answer “allow access” to any requests to open the Windows Firewall to the “Openvpn.exe” program on the “public” network interface.
