Group Printers
Access to group printers, installed at Berti Pichat site and Irnerio site, is allowed only from “bo.infn.it” domain via Division printserver or directly.
+ Configuration printers with accounting system The documentation is accessible from the internal network or via VPN at the following link (italian version only). + Configuration printers with direct access Download the driver at the manufacturer site (HP, Xerox, etc.) Activate the “cups” service Connect to the web interface http://localhost:631/ Add a network printer Select “AppSocket/HP JetDirect” Provide the TCP/IP address of the printer and the port just selected Define the print queue name (e.g. lpstg) Do not share the printer Select the template or upload the PPD file (postscript driver to search in Internet) Add (+) an IP network printer Select the “HP Jetdirect – Socket” protocol provide the printer’s TCP/IP address as the address and name of the port (e.g. lpstg.bo.infn.it) Accept the proposed driver Do not share the printer Add a local printer Create a “Standard TCP/IP” port Provide the printer’s TCP/IP address as the address and name of the port (e.g. lpstg.bo.infn.it) Define the print queue name (e.g. lpstg) Do not share the printer At this point it’s necessary to change the properties of the printer installed according to the model and needs (e.g. front/back, A4 / A3 etc).
Only the following group printers are subject to the same rules as Division printers:
