Future ElectroWeak factories call for hugly granular calorimeters with unprecedented jet energy resolution. This goal seems to be reachable with either an imaging calorimeter exploiting Particle Flow Algorithms, or a fibre-sampling Dua-Readout calorimeter. In both cases, many technical problmes are still opened and R&D is needed to build a hadronic-size prototype and assess the performance that could be reached. The project aims at designing, constructing and qualifying a longitudinally unsegmented, highly granular, fibresamplinf dua readout calorimeter prototype to asses:

  • a stand-alone hadronic resolution around 30%/√E or better, for both single hadrons and jets, while maintaining a resolution for isolated electromagnetic (em) showers close to 10%/√E
  • a transverse resolution of O(1 mrad)/√E
  • a longitudinal one of a few cm (through timing)
  • a modular and scalable construction technique
  • an innovative readout architecture based on SiPMs
  • the performance of Deep Neural Network algorithms in exploiting such a large amount of (3D) information

The Bologna group will, in particular, deal with the design, fabrication and integration of the readout chain to interface commercial SiPMs, used as technical demonstrator of the system
