AFS Client installation
The Computing and Network Service usually installs AFS client on the following platforms:
- On Linux systems, the Open Source version OpenAFS is installed
- Windows operating systems (italian version only, internal access or via VPN)
- MacOS (italian version only, internal access or via VPN)

What is AFS
- AFS (Andrew File System) is a distributed file system that allows file sharing over the network.
- Access is regulated through a kerberos authentication system and ACL (Access Control List) on files.
- Authentication is distributed between three national servers:
- Cnaf: afs1.infn.it
- Roma1: afs2.infn.it
- Naples: afs3.infn.it
