SAFETY AND PROTECTION

USEFUL INFORMATION FOR GUESTS:

In Italy there are many laws that protect the worker’s health against risks in working places. Some laws regard the prevention of accidents at work, others the prevention of occupational diseases.

We would like to share some useful information about safety rules to be followed by personnel who access the INFN Bologna’ s division during your stay at our Institute. Be careful! Follow strictly the hereafter safety rules.  Guests are not allowed to remain alone. The prevention and protection service is composed by CECILIA PANCALDI (the responsible) with the task to reduce occupational risks and protect workers against them and the emergency team.

In the EMERGENCY website is available the Emergency and Evacuation Plan, the building plans and the useful numbers. The consultation cannot be considered as training.

USEFUL NUMBERS:

 During your stay your supervisor is the person in charge of the Laboratory or Experiment. In case of need, contact in order of priority:

• the supervisor for the visit.
• the Prevention and Protection Service (tel. int. 95266; +39 3338193473)
• Management (tel. int. 95209).

The Institute will not be responsible for lost or stolen property. Authorization is one of the REACH processes for managing the risks of hazardous substances. Substances that are subject to authorization may not be used unless the guests have been authorized to do so by INFN management, under supervisor’s request. It’s very important to pay attention to what is indicated by pictograms and acoustic warnings.  Please remember that it is not permitted to carry out activities for which you have not been trained or informed of the related risks.  In case of emergency, start of fire, injured person, or illness, promptly alert the appointed person (you can find the numbers  in the Emergency website listed above). Emergency buttons and fire extinguishers are located along the corridors on each floor and can be activated in case of serious need. Smoke detection sensors are present on each room. In the event of a general alarm, you must leave the building immediately: contact your supervisor and move away from the building safely along the escape routes, up to the assembly points indicated on the Plans posted on the floors. Do not run and do not create panic. Never use elevators or freight elevators. Once you reach the outside, look for your supervisor and/or members of the Emergency Team to confirm your evacuation and possibly communicate if there are colleagues who have not yet been evacuated inside the building. It is strictly forbidden to consume food outside the areas used for refreshments; prepare dishes; smoke; use open flames. In any case, it is forbidden to stay in unauthorized areas and to use tools for which you are not qualified and/or authorized.
